Default Protection or healing?

I have a monk and I have been a healing monk so far. I have been wondering would protection be more useful then healing? I was thinking since divine favor adds healing to the spells, I would be healing and giving more armor and stuff at the same time. So the question is, which is more useful protection or healing?

healing monk is a must for every team
while prot monks might not be able to kp everyone alive by itself in a team
but the combo of a heal monk and a prot monk is more effective than two healing monks
technically prot monk prevents more dmg than a healing monk can heal
but without the large heals to replenish health, it doesn't really matter how much dmg u can prevent.
there's no sayin which is the more useful one, since GW is a team game
prot monks help immensely in the survivability of the whole team
and one shud try to get a combo of two in any case

A protection monk (if played right and with the right build) can keep up with the heals for up to 6 man parties almost all the time and depending upon the location can keep all 8 people alive indefinatly.

I personaly like the protection monks. But yes. A prot monk cant keep a team alive. What u could do is take prot spells with and and bring breeze and just slap that on every now and then. Heals nicely with no attributs in healing. Only if u have to. other wise take full prot if u are a prot monk.

All around and I mostly go into FoW. Very rarely go into UW.

Try runnning protection/divine favor/something for energy from a sub (oob, channeling, en drain, etc.) Use divine boon, you'll be healing for ~80 health per spell, plus adding whatever protection benefit. Great combo with RoF/Guardian spam. Not so hot with the high en prot spells, such as spirit, or aegis, but it can be done.

so mainly PvE right? For FoW protection is very handy as the mobs that skipe can easily surpass the healing powers of a monk yet with protection I can make the 7 other players invinvible (they can take 2.5% of their max health as damage per attack) for about 45 seconds and keep 3 people like this indefinatly with some pretty good heals thrown in. With enchant stripping though protection isn't as viable because your enchants are wiped and you have few healing skills and your energy managment was best at having 7 enchants up (possible more depending on location).

Protection Monks are excellent. Reversal of Fortune, Protective Spirit, Mend Ailment (Mend Condition for PvE), among others, are all excellent spells. Depending on the type of enemy, a Protection Monk can actually surpass a Healing Monk in effectiveness. Against Elementalists and other spikers, Protection Monks are more effective. Against enemies that do low, constant amounts of damage, or use DoTs, Healing Monks are more effective.

With 12 Protection Prayers and 12 Divine Favor, Reversal of Fortune can completely negate a 172 damage attack, for just 5 energy. With 12 Healing Prayers and 12 Divine Favor, Orison of Healing can only negate for up to 98 damage.

I really like protection monk/ele's that also uses earth magic its really good against elementalists... plus I have a friend thats a healing monk that I play with so we make a really good team. If you don't have a healing monk with you it makes it kinda hard but you can still keep ppl alive.
